# Socratic Questioning

What do you mean by that?

A precision tool for cutting through ambiguity.
People often use charged or vague language without defining it. This question forces clarity, reveals assumptions, and ensures everyone is discussing the same thing.

How do you know that?

A filter separating grounded reasoning from unexamined belief.
In a world overflowing with confident claims, this question directs attention to the source, method, or evidence behind an assertion.

Could you be wrong?

A humility checkpoint.
Asking this invites self-awareness and disrupts certainty bias. Growth becomes possible the moment one acknowledges the limits of their knowledge.

What would it look like if you were wrong?

A visualization of alternative realities.
Instead of merely admitting the possibility of being wrong, this question demands concrete imagination:

  • What signs would contradict your position?
  • How would the world appear if your belief didn’t hold?

It cultivates adaptability and prevents intellectual rigidity.

What evidence would change your mind?

The final test of intellectual honesty.
Someone open to truth can specify conditions under which they would revise their view. Someone seeking validation cannot.
This question anchors the conversation in falsifiability rather than ideology.
